The party stands in the middle of The Warriors Lodge, Sindrin dead at their feet, Drathis, Svaela and Ukasei gone. The two gnomes, Finneas and Clevas are both shaken as they come out of hiding within the tavern. They agree to speak in private and head to one of the rooms Svaela rented at the lodge. Clevas tells the group that a Dunmer appeared before him and requested the map, which he handed over seemingly out of his control. The group is upset but Finneas tells them that he had made a copy of the map before coming to Stormcloak City. Finneas tells them that he believes it is a map of the sewers of Alinor in Summerset. They all agree that because of Drathis' ability to teleport and the potential danger of the item the map leads to, that they should leave immediately. Clevas offers to take them to the White-Gold Tower to use a teleportation circle instead of traveling. RaGinn animates the body of Sindrin before they leave for the tower.
Once inside the tower, Clevas leads them to a small bare room within a small library. He summons a teleportation circle and the group is transported to the Mage's Guild within Alinor. They are told by Finneas that he and Clevas will not be accompanying them on their adventure. He gives them information about the maps entrance either being at the central Wayshrine or the Temple. The map also has a symbol on it, a circle with lines surrounding it like a sun. The group decides to enter by the Wayshirne, keeping alert on the way there for any suspicious conversation or job board postings that may be related. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary, they enter the sewers.
After walking the sewers for over an hour, they decide to take a long rest. During this time, RaGinn and JaIname discover a gold pendant necklace that allows the wearer to breathe normally in harmful conditions. Nirius and Ephyra have an uneventful watch. The night ends with Wuunferth's watch as he spends it with Julida. He apologizes to her for how he has treated her. She accepts his apology. He also tells her that she may leave any time she wants to but she expresses that she will stay with him for the time being and the two are intimate before the night ends.
The next day as the group continues down the sewers, they come across what seems to be a dead end as the walls have caved in. Ephyra notices the sun symbol near the top of the wall and Wuuferth notices that there are several loose stones. He moves them, creating enough space for everyone to pass through. Inside a small moss covered room, the group is attacked by a banshee, though they dispose of it quickly. The small room leads into an old library which has been damaged by time and water. RaGinn believes they are in the correct path according to the map. They continue forward and come to a large room with a mural. The painting, though very old, damaged and faded, shows a man holding something emitting light with three dragons surrounding him. They find a puzzle lock to a door. They decipher the puzzle by matching the order of the dragons on the puzzle wheel in the wall to the order of the dragons in the mural. They enter into a room that is crumbling and broken. On one wall is ancient runes, of which Nirius is able to identify as Dovahzul, the old dragon tongue. He translates the runes to say "begun to keep the peace and to keep the stone from evil hands."
The group notices another puzzle lock in the wall, this time there are eight pictures engraved. RaGinn notices that they are the symbols of the original eight divines. After discussion and attempts to figure out the puzzle, Nirius touches the symbol of Akatosh, opening the stone door.
They come to a dark spiral staircase that leads to a grand room. Inside the ancient room is a large statue that they recognize as Akatosh. The statue is holding a glowing orb. Wuunferth is able to recall stories about the Orb of Dragons, and he assumes this is it. This orb has the ability to control dragons. As the group is looking about the room, Svaela, Yukka and Ukasei come through a door into the room on the other side. A race to the orb begins with combat beginning. Wuunferth attempts to get to the out of reach orb by throwing weapons at it and sending his raven to fetch it, to no avail as it doesn't seem to move. Drathis enters the room as Svaela uses her Thu'um to dislodge the orb with Unrelenting Force. Drathis quickly grabs the orb and summons forth a Beholder. A lengthy battle rages with many of the group taking heavy hits from the Beholder and Drathis. RaGinn is able to kill Ukasei and is eventually petrified by one of the Beholders rays. JaInamie is hit by a disintegration ray and is immediately killed and turned to ash. As she perishes, she throws the Ring of Khajiiti towards RaGinns stone figure. The Beholder is able to charm Yukki, Nirius and Wuunferth, though the Nord shakes it off after a few seconds. Nirius attacks Julida while Yukki goes after Ephyra. Drathis appears behind Svaela and attacks her with a massive lightning attack from his staff, she goes down and Yukka strikes a killing blow. RaGinn attacks Yukka, keeping him just barely alive. Wuunferth deals the final blows to the Beholder, splitting the aberration in half.
The mood shifts as the group is faced with the death of two of their comrades. Nirius takes some of JaInamie's ashes. He expresses that she was too young, and did not deserve this fate. He vowed to take her to Elsweyr for her final resting place.
RaGinn strikes the final blow to Yukka in anger. He goes to Svaela's body and casts speak with dead. He inquires about Drathis and his whereabouts. She answers that Drathis is going to Riften and High Hrothgar, that he seeks to control the dragons but she is unsure of the extent of his power. RaGinn asks Svaela if there is anything else she would like to say. As her breath leaves her body she replies "I'm sorry..."
