The party readies to leave Ivarstead, with Eniaak having sent two of the Companions to aid the group, Sal Revel and Rynly Wobblespan. Ra'Ginn purchases a cloak for the journey and the group sets off to climb the 7,000 steps. They travel for over an hour, hunting goats and keeping a look out for danger. The journey so far is peaceful yet cold and at times difficult terrain, but still manageable.
Eventually they find a small cave opening. Ra'Ginn decides to send his familiar, a Raven named Phyra into the cave to scout. The cave is dark, but seemingly empty as the party navigates their way through. The come across a set of armor that is seemingly fused somehow to the ground. They make their way through twists and turns of the cavern, encountering mysterious a rug that attacks them. They take care of the irritable floor decor and must find their way across a deep ravine. Once across they battle a huge frost troll. Going deeper into the cavern, they discover a strange room with a statue of Stendaar, a tall basin of water and locked door. The group is able to solve the puzzle with blood, a cup from the statue and the water from the basin. Once inside a spiral staircase takes them down where they are met with a large hellhound statue who springs to life and attacks them when they attempt to go through the next door. After a lengthy battle with the hound, they are granted access to an inner room with strange markings on the stone floor. A circle of glyphs with single glpyphs facing it, the group discovers that by stepping on the single glyph in a certain order, the one standing in the circle is transported. RaGinn, who chose to stand in the circle finds himself in darkness. The group awaits anxiously for hours, when finally RaGinn returns with a small chest in hand. The group decides to leave quickly and discuss what happened to RaGinn once they are back on the 7,000 steps to High Hrothgar.
