The group begins their journey through Dunmeth Pass and are fortunate to have clear skies on their first day. Multiple guards are seen paroling the pass as they travel. After making camp for the night, Ra'Giin studies his book and afixes the guilded skull to his belt. Nirius asks about the skull, to which Ra'Giin replies that it is for a spell. He holds the skull, mutters and an incorporeal form rises from the ground. He tells Nirius that if he cannot find a corpse, this will be helpful in battle.
Ra'Giin feels it is necessary to use the sending stone to talk to Drathis. Everyone huddles together so that the area affect of their scry protection stones covers all of them. Ra'Giin connects with Drathis and asks him if he has achieved his final goal, or if he is stuck. Drathis replies that he couldn't imagine what his final goal is and that he will go to all lengths to achieve it. Ra'Giin asks what part he will play and what Drathis plans to do with him. He is told that his plans are for all of Tamriel, and the part Ra'Giin plays is up to him. Ra'Giin asks Drathis what he wants, to which he replies...peace.
Using her new ability, Ephyra decides to scry on Drathis in order to gain more information. The spell is successful. She sees Drathis sitting next to a bed with a figure laying in it. A robed figure approaches and asks Drathis if he needs anything. He requests food and mentions that she will need it once she is awake. Svaela stirs, turns and reaches for Drathis. He tells her "Darling, I am so sorry for what I did to you..."
The group is shaken at discovering Svaela is alive. They wonder about the few Greybeards who were to retrieve her body for them. Ephyra wonders if Svaela is on Drathis' side. Sal suggests sending Svaela a message, but Nirius believes that to be too dangerous. Ephrya wonders if Drathis already knows they have the crown. She is concerned about the state that Svaela may be in. Ra'Giin informs everyone, that in order to resurrect a body, the spirit must be willing to return. He wonders if she was under a curse and that is why she was willing to return to Drathis. They do all recall Svaela seeming conflicted everytime Drathis was encountered. They discuss who might have possibly resurrected her, if not Drathis. Ra'Giin remembers the lich who was controlling The Shroud, again trying to determine who Svaela would trust enough to be willing to return to her mortal body, but again, if she was being controlled, she wouldn't of had a choice.
The group agrees to scry on Drathis again the next evening and they all settle in for the night on the pass through the mountains. Ra'Giin at some point through the night, explains to Nirius that they may have to kill their friend.
The second day the group travels with no hiccups. Once camped down for the night Ephyra again scrys on Drathis. The spell is again successful and she sees him speaking with Ylora. They speak of Svaela's healing and that it is a difficult road for her as coming back from the dead is quite an ordeal. They speak of "the other one" and that she has served her purpose. Drathis says she is needed back at the temple. Ylora explains that she is going to be hard to get rid of. He tells her that he doesn't want to involve "him" and that she is to get rid of her.
The group tries to think of who this other person is that Drathis and Ylora are referring to. They recall the Temple of Sithis in Blackmarsh as one of the locations of the Orbs. Nirius wonders if that's why the Dark Brotherhood wasn't at the Sky's Oath meeting, that maybe they are in on it with Drathis. They all wonder who "him" is. Ra'Giin wonders if "him" is Molag Baal. Ephyra thinks she should message the Jarl Kelan about it. She sends message asking if he has heard recently from the Brotherhood and expresses they may have a theory. Jarl Kelan has not heard from the Brotherhood and that theory would explain their silence. He tells Ephyra the Brotherhood leader's name is Rhys'Von. He expresses that Sky's Oath commands each faction does not encroach on guild territory, but this is an exception.
During Ra'Giin and Vredik's watch, Vredik gives Ra'Giin plethora of information about Morrowing, Vvardenfell, the history of the Chimer and their gods, the Chimer curse, transitioning to the Dunmer, the eruption of Red Mountain, refuge in Windhelm, and the treatment of the Dunmer.
Their third day brings about a very heavy snowstorm. They are forced to find shelter for the remainder of the day. Ra'Giin studies his book with Vredik for 5 hours and with much practice during this time, Ra'Giin is able to cast a spell that will heat up a creature, however at this point it does not cause any harm. Ephyra spends her time studying as well in the Perpidexicon and discovers more pages that she can now read. This time a poem detailing darkness.
That night she is plagued by yet another dream. This time of dark, drips, stone walls and feeling her way forward. Footsteps can be heard behind her and the sound of the dripping fills her ears. Before she awakes, a deep growl fills the chamber.
