C1 Session 31: Mother May I

The group continues traveling over Dunmeth pass towards Morrowind with clear skies and no troubles on the heavily Stormcloak guarded road. Sal talks to Rynly about Jarl Kelan and a possible romance, to which she insists there is nothing there. The rest of the group is very encouraging of her trying something with him.

During their travels early in the morning, the group spots a unique creature  further down the road. Ra'Giin, Nirius and Sal know this to be an Indrik. The group stops to watch the beautiful creature when a soothing, deep voice fills their head. They are told the road ahead for them is a dangerous one, and they are to proceed with the blessings of Y'ffre. Their speed increases and the group is able to make it to the city of Blacklight in Morrowind by midnight. They are able to find lodging at The Demon Dark Inn despite an unsuccessful attempt at a discount. Having to share rooms, Ra'Giin tells Ephyra that he is happy she is here and that she is his friend. She does sometimes wonder why she is here, but that the group makes her feel like home. Ra'Giin and her agree that this will be difficult as Drathis will not end easily.

Early the next morning, Sal seeks out a blacksmith for kunai daggers. He ends up spending 200 gold in order to have them ready in time for their departure to the island of Vvardenfell. Vredik orders a breakfast feast for the group before he leaves to procure a boat for the remainder of the journey. While everyone eats, they discuss their plans once they find the Knights of the Spire. Sal thinks once they give the crown over, they need to seek out Drathis or the other orb. Ra'Giin mentions they have no idea where Drathis currently is and Vredik cautions them on seeking him out as they don't know the extent of his power. Before leaving for the boat to Vvardenfell, Ra'Giin is able to pickpocket a coin satchel from a man after Fira causes a commotion, knocking over the man's drinks and food.

The group takes a small boat that they must all row across the water to the island of Vvardenfell. Once on the northern shores, the group is met with land that is covered in lava rock, with the flora and fauna returned throughout the island. Though they can see depleted and destroyed cities in the distance, the island, except the animals, is abandoned. Ra'Giin sends Fira out to scout the shore and is able to spot a cave entrance towards the east. Once to the cave entrance, they see it is heavily covered by vines, and could easily be overlooked. Nirius does notice that some vines near the ground are broken. With detect magic up from Nirius and dancing lights up from Ephyra, the group begins to enter in a cautious manner. They travel for quite a while, the tunnels dipping further down as they go, when they come to a cavern with water. The group is cautious with the water, as they do not want to disturb any creature that may or may not be in there. They try to look for another way through, but they are only able to see one way out...and that is currently halfway filled with water. Ra'Giin looks under the water, but doesn't see anything, so Sal sends his rope of climbing to attach itself to the ceiling. Each one holds on to the rope as it pulls them gently through the water. Halfway through, however, the water level rises until they cannot go any further without swimming underwater through the passageway. Nervous about what lies ahead, Ra'Giin offers to go forward. It takes him one minute to swim through before breaking the water. Once on the other side, he sends flame skull back through to notify the rest of the group that he made it through. The rest of the party follows and they continue through the tunnels that twist and descend further. The caverns begin to narrow and the tunnel ceilings begin to lower until the group is forced to crawl their way through. They come to another cavern that is filled with gems embedded into the stone. This leads to another cavern where the group finds a skyshard on a ledge 50 feet above them. They are all able to use it and they gain an ability score increase.

They eventually, after hours of walking, they come to a steep, muddy grade. They must carefully make their way down to avoid slipping, but Rynly, Nirius and Vredik cannot keep their footing and they tumble down the passageway. They fall into a large, dark cavern that is giving off a small source of light. They see across the way that a Wispmother and her wisps are giving off a faint glow. Once the rest of the group is down the slope, they decide to break into two groups to attempt to sneak past the Wispmother to the passage on the other side of the cavern. The two groups make it about halfway before Vredik slips on loose rock and stumbles into a puddle of water, making noise that causes the Wispmother to be alerted to the groups presence. She and her wisps attack and the group defends themselves. They notice that as one wisp attacks Vredick, the Wispmother heals. After a lengthy battle with the wisps and wispmother, the group finally defeats them all. They are left standing in the large cavern, breathless.
