The group continues with the remainder of their journey through Dunmeth Pass with no troubles. During the trip, Ridle uses the opportunity to get to know everyone a little better and asks how everyone was brought together. Ephyra explains that chance brought her to the group. Ra'Giin tells him that Svaela sought him out for assistance with Drathis. Ridle is astonished over the loyalty of the group. He tells them that he is familiar with the people of Elswheyr and that he has seen the horrible things Drathis did and because of that, they deserve a drink. Ephyra inquires how Ridle came to be a Knight of the Spire, to which he tells her that it was offered by chance based off of what he could do and what he studied. He has been with the Knights but a few months and has only been away from Elsheyr for about five or six months.
Ra'Giin continues to study his book with the assistance of Vredik and over the course of the remainder of the journey he is now able to cast a gamma ray spell to which he names is Banner's Wrath. Ridle and Svaela try to open the metal box he had found the night before, but to no avail. Ephyra continues to study her Perpidexicon of Knaarge, the nightmares increasing and continuing to discover more disturbing pages within the ever changing book.
The group arrives at Windhelm where they speak to the Jarl who gives his condolences regarding Nirius. He asks them what they plan to do about The Brotherhood as that is still a loose end that needs to be taken care of. Vredik tells the group that he knows of someone who could potentially assist them with finding the Dark Brotherhood and will seek him out while they are in Windhelm. They all decide to stay for a few days before leaving for Valenwood to bury Nirius. As they leave, Jarl Kelan takes Rynly aside and thanks her for the letters she has been writing him. Vredik gives her a thumbs up behind the Jarl. Kelan invites her to dinner that night, to which she thankfully accepts. Ra'Giin casts Gentle Repose on Nirius' body again to assure he is preserved for their journey. Rynly spends the next few days with Jarl Kelan. During this time, she sees the letters the Jarl was speaking of earlier and she understands that Vredik had been advocating for her by writing letters for her to the Jarl. Sal approaches Vredik to see if he can enchant his weapons to not miss targets. Vredik tells him he will attempt to find such an enchantment as soon as he can.
During the two days in Windhelm, Ridle invites the group to the local tavern and buys everyone a round. The group drinks and has conversation with each other when Vredik arrives with another. He brings with him Sixx D'Vixx, a Dumner who can possibly assist the group with finding the Dark Brotherhood. They sit for a little while with the scar covered Dumner, asking him various questions about how he is tied to the Brotherhood. During this time, Svaela runs across the tavern and hugs a long missing Ivar. He joins the table and decides to rejoin the group. They notice that Svaela seems to be drinking quite a bit and Ephyra seems to have her mind elsewhere. Ridle makes a toast to their friend's memory. As the night ends, Ra'Giin pulls Vredick aside and tells him that though he needs to eventually go back to Riften and Vredik must stay in Windhelm, he hopes that they can continue to see each other and enjoy each others time together. Vredik agrees and tells him that he would visit Riften as often as he can. Vredik gives Ra'Giin a sending stone. Svaela and Ephyra go to the docks together, with Ridle in tow to make sure they stay safe. They talk about Drathis and how Svaela had spent time with him before he turned into what the group knew. She loved him and regardless of how bad he was, she still lost someone. They both cry together before going back to the party's home.
Sixx goes back to his home to mentally prepare himself for the days ahead. He pulls out a weapon and draws blood from his hand, creating a charge of lightning to emit from his weapon. Throwing it on the bed, thinking deeply about his past, he lays down, not quite sure what to do.
At the end of their two day stay, the group meets at their home with Vredik and Sixx. They discuss plans, how Rynly will be staying with the Jarl and which route would be best to get the group to Valenwood. Sixx tells them he had left the Brotherhood 20 years ago from Blackmarsh. They decide on traveling to Alinor, then to Valenwood. After Nirius is taken care of, they will then travel to Blackmarsh to attempt to find the Dark Brotherhood.
Ephyra messages the Archmage of Alinor, Alas to let them know they are coming through and casts a teleportation circle while Vredik says his goodbyes to everyone. They arrive to Alinor with the body of Nirius and are given rooms at the Guild while Ra'Giin seeks out Samblar, the mage he left the metal sphere with their first time in the city. Samblar takes him to a tower, which seems to serve as his laboratory. He tells him he cannot figure out what the sphere does, but shows him what he has discovered so far. He places the sphere on a stand in the center of the room and pulls a lever on a machine at one end of the room. Large metal discs begin spinning around the room, emitting an electric charge at the sphere. The sphere opens and a large lightning elemental escapes, charging towards Ra'Giin. Samblar releases the lever, stopping the discs from spinning and the elemental is sucked back into the sphere. Ra'Giin and Samblar are not quite sure what to make of this invention. Ra'Giin does want to conduct an experiment. He grabs his group and takes them to an open field, setting the sphere in the middle of them all. Wanting to see if the creature can only go so far from the sphere, he spends a charge on the staff he took from Drathis' body and releases the lightning elemental from the sphere, which attacks the group. They are thrust into combat with the creature, and upon taking multiple hits from the group, the creature eventually is sucked back into the sphere.
