C1 Session 36: Glummorn

The group, standing before the huge underground lake speckled with strange creatures, and a few figures in the distance foraging for food. They notice the water flows out in six different waterways as Ra'Giin looks over the map to determine where they are. They split the group to fill two boats as they vote on which tunnel to go through. Having to navigate the boat around stalagmites, everyone works together to keep the boats from crashing into the rocks. They row for hours, avoiding rock formations and low ceilings, except for Ra'Giin and his minions who get slightly harmed by the rocks that force the ceiling to decrease in height. The stalagmites begin to increase and the group is forced to attempt to keep the boats safe. Ephyra notices a strange sigil on the rock walls of the tunnel that she has never seen before. She quickly draws it on a piece of parchment. Ridil notices a large stalagmite ahead of them and sees it move slightly. As he begins to notify the rest of the group, the stalagmite notices them quickly lunges in their direction.

The group defends against the Roper as they attempt to steer the boats through to get away. More creatures fly down from the ceiling and begin to attack.

The creatures, both Dark Mantles and the Roper attack the group with one of the Dark Mantles grappling YukYuk and wrapping itself around the goblin, causing him to be unable to move or breathe. He is freed by Ridil who prys the creature off of him. They continue to try to maneuver the boats through the open area while Ridil casts Searing Sunburst, harming a few of the Dark Mantles and then jumps out of the boat to attack the Roper. Ephyra follows suit and exits the boats and easily climbs some nearby rocks and shoots the Dark Mantles with her crossbow. They are able to dispose of the creatures and begin investigating the area.

The group continues through the area and sees a group of orcs fishing ahead of them and a large land mass with what seems like towering reeds beyond them. The orcs seem friendly, but stand offish as they wave to each other. They come up to the group of orcs and ask them where they are and if they can offer any assistance to them to escape Coldharbour. Two of the orcs introduce themselves as Durz and Dura and tell the group that they are in Glummourn. When asked if there was a leader who could answer questions for them and possibly help them out, they point to the third orc who tells them that once they dock, they are to wait for him and he will attempt to help them as much as he can. Ridle asks his name so they can find him once on the land, and he answers "Archer."

Upon coming closer to the land, they see that there is not large reeds extending to the ceiling, rather a small settlement made up of towers, rope bridges and wood, seemingly made up of haphazard items. Archer eventually docks and seeks them out, leading them to a small hut where they sit and talk. The group asks how they can escape, and though the answer is glum, there are a few portals out, if they can find them. Archer explains that there is a portal on the surface in the Tower of Coldharbour, though that one is very difficult to get to. The only other one he is aware of is down here in a fabled place called Labyrinth, though only one that he knows of has found it. He takes them to an Argonian named Okan-Ze who agrees to guide them the next day to Labyrinth.

The group is given a small hut to sleep in for the night, and Ra'Giin casts his tiny hut inside of the little building for more protection. He uses his sending stones to talk to Silas, who tells him that it has been two weeks since he has heard from him, which concerns Ra'Giin as it has only been two days for the group in Coldharbour. He also speaks with Vredik who tells him that he has done what he has asked with Nirius' body and that he found the book and has been studying it. Ra'Giin immediately tells him to stop studying the book and to hide it. During the night, everyone is plagued with dreams of loved ones deaths, Rhys'Von and bring trapped below the surface of Coldharbour.
The next day, everyone wakes and prepares to leave. They meet Ozan-Ze at the docks and begin to load their things into the boats. Another citizen of the settlement helps the group into the boats and wishes Okan-Ze luck on his journey. He is cut off mid sentence as an arrow pierces his neck and he falls. They look up and notice the settlement is being attacked by members of the Shroud and they see Rhys'Von walking among her followers. They are setting fire to the buildings and town, people are being attacked and fall to their deaths. They quickly push off as they see that Rhys'Von and the Shroud have not noticed them yet. Ra'Giin casts thamaturgy in an attempt to distract, however he catches the attention of the enemy and they begin to chase. Ephyra casts charm person on the Shroud and Rhys'Von. She is able to charm the members of the Shroud, seeing her brother among them, but is unable to charm Rhys'Von so she attacks her with her crossbow instead. Furious, Rhys'Von points her finger at Ephyra and knocks her back with Disintegrate, causing a large amount of damage to her.
They attempt to flee and are given the chance as a huge two headed Demogorgon rises from the water and begins attacking Rhys'Von and the Shroud.
